Directions for Arriving at the Family Birth Center: Day or Night

Arriving 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. – Please self-park or valet park, and enter through the main hospital entrance. Reception will direct you to Labor & Delivery.
Arriving between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. – Please call hospital security at (626) 397-5282 and let the officer know your estimated time of arrival. Please self-park in our North parking lot. Our main entrance is closed after 10:00 p.m., so a security officer will meet you and unlock the door.

Community Obstetricians

More than 80 physicians have privileges to deliver babies at Huntington Hospital. Find a local obstetrician or gynecologist for the best care.

Obstetrical Emergency Department (OB-ED)

To provide the timeliest care for expectant mothers, our OB-ED is an emergency department area dedicated solely to obstetrical patients presenting to the hospital for care. Patients are evaluated by our skilled laborist physicians rather than the traditional nurse-led phone triage found in many hospitals.

24/7 Laborists

Our laborist program ensures 24 hours a day, 365 days a year board-certified OB/GYN physician support for you and your baby. In the event that you arrive at the hospital before your doctor, a laborist will be there to support you until your doctor arrives. When literally a matter of minutes can make a life-saving difference, our laborist program offers peace of mind for our families.

24/7 OB Anesthesiologists

Our select group of board-certified anesthesiologists are proficient in all areas of modern techniques of obstetrical anesthesiology. They are also trained to deal with unexpected emergencies and medical complications. Anesthesiologists are located on the L&D floor and are available 24 hours a day.

Your Nursing Team

The nursing staff at Huntington Hospital is here to provide excellent and compassionate care for you and your baby. All nurses are educated to support breastfeeding. The majority of our nursing staff is trained on Baby-Friendly world-class standards of maternity care. As a Magnet-designated hospital, Huntington Hospital has received the highest recognition for nursing excellence and patient outcomes.

Many of the physicians who have medical staff privileges to practice medicine at Huntington Hospital are independent physicians, and not employees or agents of the hospital. These independent physicians bill separately for their services. You should contact your physician to determine their status and billing practices.

Right in your suite, caregivers have immediate access to the most advanced equipment and monitoring systems to welcome baby more safely. Labor, delivery and recovery room (LDRs) for vaginal deliveries and three surgical suites for caesarean section deliveries are all in one area.

Typically, following delivery mother and baby share the same room for the duration of their hospital stay. Our Mother Baby postpartum unit offers 32 private rooms and 6 rooms designated for phototherapy and other situations. Here you and your family will be cared for as you bond with your new baby. All of our family-centered postpartum rooms include their own private bathroom and shower as well as televisions, telephones, fully adjustable beds, a bassinet for your baby and sleep accommodations for your support person.

Perinatal High-Risk Unit

Most pregnancies progress smoothly, but some conditions may increase the possibility for complications during your pregnancy and delivery. If you experience a complication, Huntington Hospital’s Perinatal High-Risk Unit includes twelve private rooms and features a skilled staff, who are specially trained to care for high-risk patients.

A maternal-fetal medicine specialist is a physician that specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Our specialists are available for consultation with your obstetrician and the labor and delivery staff to coordinate the safest and healthiest birth for you and your baby. Mother and fetus are monitored 24 hours a day to ensure that their health is not compromised.

Some mothers stay in the high-risk unit for several weeks until the time of delivery and others for just a day. Regardless of your length of stay, you will be cared for and educated about the skills necessary to cope with a high-risk pregnancy. The High-Risk Unit is adjacent to our Labor and Delivery area in case the need arises for an emergency delivery.
